Supporting local businesses and nonprofits

A few of my favorite things came together on Thursday, October 12: tacos from local Las Tortillas Mexican Restaurant, a beverage from local North 20 Brewing, and fundraising for a good cause, with local nonprofit Moms & Neighbors at their fall fundraiser.

Notice something they have in common? Local. I frequently hear from our residents about their desire to have local options for everything from retail and restaurant to volunteer opportunities and charity work. This event was a great intersection of all three.

Since its inception, the local Moms & Neighbors nonprofit has raised over $750,000 to support numerous District 196 families in need. Their support helps kids feel more stability and stay the course in school.
